Tübingen Day 2: Motette

We have another busy day ahead of us today, with a service in Tübingen in the morning, followed by a concert in Schloß Solitude near Stuttgart this afternoon, so this will just be a very quick post to say that we had an amazing experience singing in the Tübingen-Motette series last night. The church was full, and the audience were wonderfully friendly and appreciative, and very kind about our efforts at singing in German. We kicked off with Tomkins’s joyful 7-part O Sing unto the Lord, which is starting to feel like the theme-song of this trip, and that set up our energy for the rest of the evening, but singing Bach’s Singet dem Herrn at the end was the highlight, especially the zingy Alleluias at the end, bringing all the hard work to fruition.

Rehearsal in the Stiftskirche

We definitely needed a relaxing drink afterwards and we all got together for some tasty local beer and enjoyed being together as a group – something we don’t do enough when we’re all juggling our busy lives at home. An unexpected consequence of this tour has been conversations about how we can socialise like this more often.
